SWATCH ITS ARTWORK AWARD
Swatch, one of the main partners of ITS 2015, has named 10 remarkable young designers as finalists for this year’s ITS ARTWORK Award in partnership with Swatch, established by Swatch and ITS and focused on purely artistic talent.
And the finalists are:
Bianca Chong (China):
Raised in Hong Kong, Bianca studied Fashion Design in Hong Kong and Nottingham and subsequently earned a Master of Arts (Hons) in Fashion Artefact from the London College of Fashion. A fashion enthusiast, she lives in London.
Tom Van Der Borght (Belgium) & Shalva Nikvashvili (Georgia):
Tom Van Der Borght studied Fashion Design at the Stedelijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. Today he lives and works as an independent designer in Gent (Ghent), Belgium. Born in Signagi, Georgia, Shalva Nikvashvili studied Fashion Design at the State Academy of the Arts in Tbilisi and is currently working as a visual merchandiser in Gent, Belgium.
Alexis Gauthier (France):
Born in France, Alexis studied art and fashion design in Paris and Antwerp, Belgium, and is currently working on his graduate collection for a Master’s in Fashion Design at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Antwerp.
Richard Quinn (United Kingdom):
Richard earned a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Fashion: Fashion Print for Womens Wear, both from Central Saint Martins in London, England, where he lives and works.
Yuko Koike (Japan):
From Komae-City (Tokyo), Yuko worked as photographer for a firm selling plants over the internet before studying and taking a degree in Fashion from the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode (ESMOD) in Tokyo.
Shay Tako (Israel):
Trained as a tailor, Shay Tako is completing a four-year degree in the Fashion Design department of the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Ramat Gan. He lives in Tel-Aviv, where he also works for a design studio specializing in high-fashion leather goods.
Daniella Saraya (Israel):
Daniella lives in Ramat Gan, where she earned a Bachelors’ degree in Jewelry Design at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design; she is currently enrolled in an MA program at the same college, where she continues to focus on jewelry.
Hiroki Kataoka (Japan):
Hiroki studied computer graphics in Tokyo and worked as a Computer Graphics specialist before studying at The Esperanza Institute of Footwear Design & Technique and at Coconogacco, the fashion design school, both in Tokyo.
Marta Twarowska (Poland):
Born in Bialystok, Marta studied Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts Lodz and completed the Foundation Course at Central Saint Martins in London before moving to Antwerp, Belgium to study Fashion Design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
Higasi Nobuhiro (Japan):
From Tokyo, Higasi studied at Ritsumeikan University in Shiga for several years before taking up studies at the Coconogacco fashion school in Tokyo.
In July 2015, these young designer talents will travel to Trieste, Italy, where their art will be shown in a dedicated ITS ARTWORK exhibition. The work on display will be evaluated by an international jury, who will name the winner of the ITS ARTWORK Award in partnership with Swatch for 2015.
