When asked how long he has been skiing, Phil Meier answers with a laugh: “Always!” He became a freeride professional in 1999. Since then he has lived in Verbier, and has participated several times in Xtreme events. He says the following about his residence: “Val de Bagnes is a huge play-ground, and the Bec des Rosses is a unique mountain!” Skiing isn’t everything. Of course, there are also the mountains, the cold, snow, speed, wind and above all his wife Jessica — but skiing is very important.
Phil was injured n 2004. “Then I had time to devote thoughts to my future.” He got married, changed sponsor and further developed “Hot Chocolate”. The exclusive freeride camps – including material helicopter flight – are intended to promote an awareness of nature and sports amongst the participants. According to the motto of the organisers: “We love what we do, and would like to share it with others in a responsible manner”. At the same time, his personal skiing career should not come off worst. In 2005, Phil recorded five stages from his professional year in the course of a television report. “A super experience, very personal!” Further ski films together with Nicolas Mesple shall follow the likes of films such as “Snow Odyssey” and “Nuit de la Glisse”.
