Beautiful Women (GZ196) exudes desire and allure, posing with the floral delicacy of a Japanese woodblock print. As sexy, feminine, and enigmatic as the tattoos for which she is known, this piece for Swatch is based on an original work by an artist inspired by both contemporary and traditional art. Here she illustrates a moment from the tale of Princess Yasha, the story of a beautiful mountain woman who turns out to be a man-eating beast. The plastic strap shows the coloured, intricate clothes worn by the princess; her face appears in the multi-toned dial. A mysterious heartbreaker, this watch is a dark ode to beautiful women.
Japanese artist extraordinaire Horiren went into tattoo art after working as a game designer. Winner of three top prizes at the 2006 Amsterdam tattoo convention and another at the 2007 London tattoo convention, Horiren is a formidable player in the field of tattoo design who has been working for nearly ten years at the top of her game. Inspired by traditional Japanese culture as well as the commercial enterprises that made up her roots as an artist, she currently works as a lecturer at Kawanabe Kyosai Museum, where she teaches about Japanese tattoo culture.see all watches by this artist
