Swatch Proteam Xavier De Le Rue and Markus Eder alongside freeskier Sam Smoothy lead the way for the next generation: embracing the new freeskiing trend, a “Backstyler” is defined as someone able to combine the essence of backcountry and freestyle without compromising on personality and smoothness.

The North Face® Backstyler™ by Swatch® aims to foster the talents of young freeriders, matching them with legendary mentors from the sport to inspire, develop and enable them to grow professionally through a unique competition format.

Who will be the first Backstyler?

As of March 25th, Xavier, Markus and Sam will lead three teams of two rookies, one filmer and one photographer to generate inspiring video edits and powerful photo galleries showcasing self-expression and personal style.

Every team will have a week available for shooting and only a couple of days to make the best video. On April 5th, you will have the chance to be part of the competition and vote for the video that you prefer. Only one of the 3 teams will claim the title of first Backstyler!
