Swatch ProTeam snowboarder David Benedek’s 60+1 (GW155) could well be a stand-in for his magnetic style, admired by snowboarders everywhere. The inspiration for the designer’s vibrant work was a consideration of the gradual slowing of the earth's rotation. As a cream-of-the-crop snowboarder, Benedek knows a little about rotations, speed, angles, degrees, and slopes, not to mention the tug of gravity and weightlessness. His weightless design has beauty on a planetary scale, inlaid in the dial of a snow-white Swatch. A decked-out, hyped-up, flip-fly fashion stunt in passionate purple, pale blue and fuchsia.
Professional snowboarder David Benedek is also a graphic designer and filmmaker. Co-founder of the production company Robot Food, as well as of Blank Paper Studio in Germany, Benedek is most famous for his very creative snowboarding and for his considerable technical freestyling prowess. Author of such tricks as “900 Shifty-Spins” and the “Frontside Double Cork 1260”, he is an innovator on the slopes. Twice voted one Germany’s top 100 most influential young men by Neon Magazine, Benedek brings his fearless, high-flying spirit to his designs.
