Swatch & Festival del Film Locarno 2019

August 7 – August 17, 2019

Swatch is proud of its long-term partnership with the Locarno FIlm Festival. Always on the lookout for emerging talent, the enfant terrible of Swiss watchmaking will offer two key awards again this year. One is dedicated to filmmakers who have completed their first feature film and are showing it at Locarno 72. The second award will sweep the winner away to Shanghai, China, for a stay as an artist in residence at the renowned Swatch Art Peace Hotel.
Again this year Swatch honors the Locarno Festival with a special edition watch featuring the Festival colors and logo.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Hong Kong and has studied film and literature at New York University and Stanford University.

From Switzerland to Shanghai

Long a committed partner of the Locarno Festival, Swatch has built a bridge linking young talent from the Swatch Art Peace Hotel with the annual festival in Locarno. Traffic goes both ways: previous winners of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Award have been invited to join the dynamic community of artists in Shanghai to work on their next films, and artists in residence have traveled from Shanghai to join Swatch in Locarno. This year, Swatch has invited Elizabeth Lo, the documentary filmmaker and a former artist in residence, to join the watchmaker in Switzerland for the 72nd edition of the Locarno Festival.
