Swatch at Biennale Arte 2015

Swatch at Biennale Arte 2015

Swatch and la Biennale di Venezia have renewed and strengthened their partnership in advance of the upcoming 56th edition of the world’s most prestigious exhibition of contemporary art, opening in May under the title “All the World’s Futures” given by its curator, Okwui Enwezor, and runs through November 2015.

Taking up its Swatch Faces theme, Swatch will present art as a force for change in the work of artists-in-residence from The Swatch Art Peace Hotel. From May through November 2015, selected artists-in-residence will be working “live” as guests of Swatch at TESA 100. A historic address in the Arsenale Nord — shipyards of the Republic of Venice and a major exhibition site for la Biennale — TESA 100 will host a series of artists-in-residence, their personal exhibitions and a range of other exciting events.

The other major, must-see venue at the 56th International Art Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia is the Giardini area, site of thirty historic national pavilions. Here too, Swatch has a surprise in store: a renowned contemporary artist will create a work for Swatch on site.

Biennale at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel

For the first time ever, the press conference for the 56th International Art Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia took place in China and was hosted by Swatch at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai. Swatch is proud to be main partner of the 56th international art exhibition. We look forward to seeing you in Venice as of May 9th.

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel

Art on the Bund

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel’s innovative operational concept blends a retail environment with an artist residency where artists live and work.

The Suites At the Swatch Art Peace Hotel comprises seven guest suites and rooms. Singapore-based YTL Hotels were appointed to manage The Suites and to operate the Shook! Restaurant including the rooftop terrace.

A design agency developed a comprehensive design for the hotel interiors that assured due respect for the heritage and historical importance of the building.

Swatch & Art

Right from the start, Swatch has been connected with contemporary art. Like the pop art of the modern times, Swatch watches were inspired by popular culture, and Swatch itself soon became a canvas for world famous artists, musicians and fashion designers.

The ongoing relationship between Swatch and art has generated a fascinating series of Swatch Art Specials designed by artists from a broad range of disciplines – painters, filmmakers, fashion designers, videographers, photographers, conceptual artists...
