And, after the explosive DRL Tryouts finale on the 3rd of February, we sure are ready to take flight.
From September '17 to January '18, more than 6.000 people around the world experienced the DRL Simulator and raced for the opportunity to be part of the best drone pilots out there.
On the first weekend of February, 24 amateur pilots flew to New York and had a chance to burn all their fuel and put their skills to test in the battle to find the next Swatch DRL Pilot. After hours of tension, jaw dropping manoeuvres and the fastest courses, the competition started to take its shape and the best pilots started to lead the podium.
After an incredible last round lasting only 37.04 seconds the 25-year-old from Washington, Robogenesis, landed in first place and became the Swatch Drone Pilot for the DRL season in 2018.
Now it is time to keep training harder and harder for the next four events before the final and most difficult challenge, the World Championship in September 2018. Only the top eight pilots will participate in this FPV (first person view) competition with custom-built DRL drones flying at 90 miles per hour, through a complex racecourse. Stay tuned!
For all the future pilots out there: the Swatch DRL Tryouts will reopen before Summer Time, giving everyone a chance to become the next Swatch Pilot for the DRL season of 2019.
