In the third installment of Life of a Drone Racer, a six-part video series that follows pro DRL racer Emmanuel “UFO” Mota on his journey to the World Championships, we see how he balances his training with his new obligations as a rising star.
Now that UFO has gone from SIM to pro, not only has the racing style changed, but so has his day-to-day life. Between managing the needs and expectations of sponsors, attending events and participating in photoshoots, he also needs to fit in time for training. Overall, our DRL hero is enjoying the perks of his new lifestyle.
“It’s been a pretty surreal experience being a DRL pilot. Coming from the simulator to being a real pilot on a real course with real drones – it’s been a drastic change and a ton of fun,” UFO said.
In episode 3, we see UFO and his racing buddies blow off some steam in Las Vegas on the set of the latest Swatch commercial and we get a behind-the-scenes look at how he conducts a flawless balancing act with his various responsibilities. (We also see some mesmerizing slow-motion shots of drones crashing through glass.)
