3... 2...1... we have blast off! On the 27th and 28th of April, the Swatch Rocket Air 3000 took things to new heights in Thun, Switzerland with gnarly slopestyle flips, whips and spins performed by top MTB superstars in front of a crazy, captivated crowd. Swatch Proteam athlete Sam Pilgrim (@sampilgrim) clinched third place with an amazing run.
Matt Jones (@mattjonesmtb) took first with no-hander combos and silver went to Alex Alanko (@alexalanko). You can see what it’s like behind Sam’s handlebars by checking out his VLOG below in the gallery.
Thun set the perfect scene for the ninth Swatch Rocket Air event with clear skies and stunning mountain views. Stepping inside the arena was like taking a wild trip with a time machine to the year 3000. Trippy lighting, pyrotechnics and dirt-packed jumps kept the adrenaline pumping and the energy buzzing. Kids and grown-ups – the young and the young at heart – enjoyed side events and food trucks throughout the weekend and stocked up on watches from the on-site Swatch truck. With this futuristic event, you can say the FMB World Tour started off with a bang.
