Over 500,000 people packed onto the Le Lez riverside in Montpellier, France for one of the biggest action sports festivals in the world – FISE – from May 9th through 13th. As Official Partner of the event, Swatch was at the center of all the activity with an on-site Swatch Truck where fans could check out the latest collections, watch a livestream of the competitions on a big screen, chill out, or get down to the sounds of the live DJ set.
Between gnarly BMX, wakeboard, scooter, roller and skateboard runs, where wild fans saw next-level daring stunts, Swatch hosted an ollie contest and slopestyle mountain biking whip-off. In the ollie contest, skateboarders competed to see who could land the highest jump. First place went to Danny Leon (ESP) who cleared 92 cm with his board. It was up to the crowd to declare the winner of the whip contest: the louder the cheering, the higher the whip ranked. Check out the contest highlights below.
Nicholi Rogatkin (USA), home crowd fave Tomas Lemoine (FRA) and Diego Caverzasi (ITA) landed on the podium in the MTB event thanks to mind-blowing moves that got the crowd jumping. Unfortunately, Swatch Proteam athlete Sam Pilgrim experienced some technical difficulties with the headset on his bike and didn’t make it through the qualifying rounds. A testament to his awesome skills, Sam was able to impress the crowd without even having time to practice his slopestyle tricks beforehand. It wasn’t enough to make it to the final, but it’s still obvious why he’s one of the best MTB slopestyle riders out there.
