Swatch celebrates creativity at Zurich Art Weekend 2025

As a proud supporter of Zurich Art Weekend 2025 taking place from 13 to 15 June 2025, Swatch will be bringing the unique artistic voices of nine former Swatch Art Peace Hotel artists-in-residence from across the globe, to the forefront of this anticipated artistic event with exhibitions in three exciting locations. At the iconic rotonda at Peterhof Bahnhofstrasse 30, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel—renowned for its artist residency program—will host a special group exhibition featuring seven artists, who previously lived in Shanghai and created within its walls as resident artists:

  • Juan Olivares (Spain), Looking for a palette in Shanghai III and Looking for a palette in Shanghai V, 2024: Juan is an artist specializing in painting and installation. Looking for a palette in Shanghai III explores colors as a language for emotion and seeks to define Shanghai through a single hue. Looking for a palette in Shanghai V showcases Shanghai’s vibrant contrasts and layered complexity.

  • Ségolène Romier (Switzerland), Rhino + L, 2010: Ségolène is an artist who has forged a unique artistic path where sculpture and stop-motion intertwine to create captivating and distinctive worlds. Rhino + L, blends sculpture and stop-motion that feels alive, even when still.

  • Miki Lin, (China), Forget the future, and the past has gone, 2025: Miki is a print artist and new media creator who merges textiles, fashion, art and digital technology inspired by women, intimacy and spirituality. Forget the future, and the past has gone, weaves colors, mythical creatures and floral allegory to capture humanity’s longing for freedom and the fleeting nature of time.

  • Juan Pablo Chipe (Mexico), La Escultura Project: Juan is a visual artist. La Escultura Project, is a sculpted fusion of Mexican and US culture.

  • Jiacheng Wang (China), Where I live, 2022: Jiacheng explores mixed-media painting, large-scale sculpture, installation, glassblowing, and ceramics. Where I live, explores how recognizing individuality leads to deeper connections, reflecting on city life’s pace and the search for warmth in shared human experiences.

  • Tianzhuo Chen (China), Asian Poodles-1: Chen is a multidisciplinary artist known for creating immersive experiences that blur the line between exhibition and theater, and explore themes of existence, spirituality through intense symbolic imagery. Asian Poodles-1 reimagines the poodle as a surreal cultural symbol, examining beauty, control and consumption.

  • almenardiaz (Venezuela), Pride-note Series: Life, Healing, Energy, Nature, Serenity and Spirit. 2023: almenardiaz is a contemporary artist and award-winning banknote designer. Pride-note Series reimagines banknotes into minimalistic art, inspired by Pride colors. Each of the six artworks symbolizes life, healing, energy, nature, serenity, and spirit, using op art and geometric dynamism to celebrate diversity and inclusivity.

Meanwhile, over at Cabaret Voltaire, the birthplace of the Dada art movement, celebrated artist, Philip Ortelli, is the selected talent from the Swatch Art Peace Hotel.

  • Philip Ortelli (Switzerland), Untitled Collage (made everywhere) 1 & 2: Philip works with sculpture and video, balancing concept and intuition in his creative approach.

  • Building on his long-standing fascination with everyday objects and their cultural translations, Ortelli, a Swatch Art Peach Hotel artist-in-resident in 2024, transforms mass-produced children’s lamps—widely popular in China—into a vibrant site-responsive installation inspired by his experience in Shanghai. The result is a playful yet thoughtful work that reflects on the aesthetics of domesticity, global consumer culture, and the gentle absurdity of daily life.

  • As part of the opening event at Cabaret Voltaire on June 13 from 6 pm, visitors are invited to enjoy a drink as part of the performative activation titled “Party 4” by Philip Ortelli.

The Swatch store in Bahnhofstrasse will also be joining the celebration, featuring exclusive artwork by artist Sauromane.

  • Sauromane (Italy), Lampuga, 2024 (from the series lce-melting Bioluminescence): Sauromane is known for repurposing discarded materials to explore creation, destruction, and humanity’s connection to the environment. Lampuga, 2024, is a sculpture, inspired by the fish found in Sicilian waters that exemplifies the artist’s distinctive approach and creative vision.
