Swatch Nines Surf 2025 wasn’t just a gathering of the best in surf unleashing their creativity at Waco Surf, it was a hub of non-stop action, world firsts and trailblazing creativity.
The energy on-site was electric and the one-of-a-kind setup featuring gravity-defying, never-seen-before features that blended surf, BMX and skate, allowed athletes to express themselves like never before.
A few standout moments that stole the show:
• Hughie Vaughan (AUS) – Stalefish Backflip. Even Tony Hawk chimed in on this first ever landed trick being widely called the best air in surfing…yet. The 18-year-old’s Stalefish Backflip clip is circling the globe.
• Noah Beschen (US) – Rail slide to fakie to Switch with Revert Out. Noah brought style and precision to the new rail setup, greasing a clean ride out switch and adding a silky revert that had the entire beach and Rooftop Line cheering.
• Skai Suitt (US) – Judo Air. A breakout moment for the young ripper—Skai’s judo air brought the crowd to its feet and proved that style knows no age.
• Matt Meola (US) – Backflip on First Try Using the Motowinch. The Maui innovator showed up and immediately broke boundaries, throwing a flawless backflip off the face of a winch-driven wave.
• Lyon Farrell (US) – Maui’s favorite snowboarder attempted a double back with straps. Known for pushing limits, Lyon got scarily close to landing a snowboard-style double backflip on a surfboard.
• Rooftop Line + Wallride Madness. Skaters and BMXers including Greyson Fletcher, Andy Anderson, Clay Kreiner, Kevin Peraza and Chase Hawk turned the pump house rooftop into a launch zone, with riders linking rooftop airs into massive wallrides and, more often than not, launching straight into the pool below.
Of course, these moments are just some of the many that went down, and they’re only gaining more traction for what lies ahead at the third and final installment of the event: Swatch Nines MTB, taking place from 4 to 13 September 2025!
