All about SISTEM51

At the heart of our design philosophy lies simplicity and sophistication, and SISTEM51 exemplifies this. Our very first quartz models in 1983 were made of 51 components. SISTEM51 takes that symbolic number and fashions it into something that nobody at the time—or since—dreamed of: a mechanical movement comprising just 51 parts.

These 51 parts are grouped into five pre-assembled modules, including a single screw that fixes the oscillating weight on the automatic device. As a unique finishing touch, the oscillating weight that rotates freely on the central screw is transparent, to provide a captivating view of the mechanism on the back of the watch.

Automated production excellence

SISTEM51 was the first, and remains the only, mechanical movement whose production is entirely automated. An entire production facility was built in the Swiss Jura Mountains to meet the high standards required for optimally carrying out every step of the manufacturing process with highly qualified human assistance.

Reliably precise

The precision of SISTEM51 is laser-adjusted during the production process. Unique in the world, this ingenious system eliminates the need for a regulator and manual adjustment of the precision of the movement by changing the rate. Removing the regulator system and laser-adjusting the rate guarantees that the rate remains stable at the end of the barrel's winding, ultimately ensuring a precise movement over time.

In addition, the modules are hermetically sealed in the case, protected from impurities, dust, and moisture, which can ultimately impact performance and longevity. The result is precision that stands the test of time.

Nivachron™ balance spring: Enhancing performance and durability

Our signature movement is fitted with the innovative Nivachron™ balance spring. Designed to combat the influence of magnetic fields, safeguard against temperature variations in daily use, and reinforce resilience to shocks, this spring supports precision and helps keep the movement running smoothly with a typical tolerance of -5/+15 seconds per day.

Long-lasting power reserve

One of the most important specifications of an automatic movement is its power reserve. The patented barrel architecture of our SISTEM51 movement, gives our automatic watches a 90-hour power reserve. This means you could leave your watch unworn even over the weekend and find it ready to wear on Monday.

In that same disruptive spirit, we’ve created another breakthrough: a brand-new version of our signature movement, redesigned with a hand-wound caliber engineered without a central screw, offering wearers a distinctly tactile experience.

Backed by eight new patents, this edition stays true to the spirit and strengths of SISTEME51, including its signature transparent sapphire caseback, and adds a new power indicator that clearly shows when the movement needs winding.
