Our Proteam athlete, Courtney Conlogue, fulfilled a dream on August 5 when she dominated the waves at Huntington Beach in California and won the 2018 Vans US Open of Surfing presented by Swatch. The road to the top hasn’t been an easy one for Courtney – she started the season with a broken foot, but her injury didn’t get in the way of putting on a captivating performance and surfing her way to the top of the podium.
A Santa Ana native, the hometown hero said: “I’m thankful for everyone I have around, having my family and team close helped my comeback after the injury and allowed me to express my best surf throughout the entire event. I’m so excited!”
From the shore, it was obvious that Courtney was on a mission. She surfed with passion, her impressive skill on full display, to best World No.1 Stephanie Gilmore. In the final heat, Courtney earned 13.83 points and Stephanie received 11.86. We’re excited about Courtney’s swift recovery and awesome, title-winning ride. There’s no doubt she’s at the top of her game as the Women’s Championship Tour heads to its last three stops. Keep it up, Courtney!
