Swatch is proud to introduce up and coming snowboard superstar Mia Brookes as our brand-new Proteam athlete. Mia is the young British snowboarder breaking records and rewriting the script of what’s possible in women’s snowboarding. Still only 17, she is known for her unique style in appearance and performance and is proving herself to be a role model for aspiring young athletes.

Mia’s Swatch story began when she bought her first Swatch at Geneva Airport aged seven on her way home from a snowboarding holiday. “I’ve been a huge fan ever since and I’m super excited to be working alongside Swatch and the Proteam for the future!”

At Swatch, we’ve been huge fans of Mia’s since we saw her in action at The Nines in 2022 where she landed her first 1260. She also won the Rider’s Award for Best Style and was named Ruler of the Week by her fellow athletes.

Mia was first introduced to snowboarding aged just 18 months at her local indoor ski center at home in England. While her talent was recognized early, age restrictions kept her from competing in many of the major competitions she has since gone on to dominate.

She made her international debut in December 2020 and, in 2022, claimed victory in the FIS Junior World Championships in Big Air and second place in slopestyle. But it was in 2023 that Mia really announced herself on the snowboard scene. At the FIS Freestyle World Championships, she scored a triple first of becoming the youngest ever snowboard World Champion, the first British person to win a snowboard slopestyle World Championship and the first woman to land a 1440 rotation in competition. She also secured overall victory in the FIS Big Air World Cup.

These are just some of the achievements that saw her named Young Sportswoman of the Year by The Times newspaper and BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2023 in her native UK.

In 2024, Mia has shown no signs of slowing down, clinching her first X-Games gold medal in Aspen, and fulfilling one of her biggest snowboarding dreams. She now has the next Winter Olympics in her sights, where a win would represent another dream come true.

While her rise to snowboarding stardom has been meteoric, Mia has kept her feet on the ground and is known as much for her down-to-earth personality as she is for the insane moves that have seen her make sporting headlines.

Out on the slopes in her new home in Laax, Switzerland, Mia is truly in the moment, making the most of every minute, spending time with her friends and soaking up the positive vibes. Away from the snow, she enjoys skateboarding, playing the guitar and listening to heavy metal music.

Mia will make her Swatch Proteam debut at Swatch Nines Snow in Schilthorn, Switzerland in April 2024 and can look forward to spending time exploring the unique course, connecting with the other Proteam athletes, and testing some new moves. Knowing what she is capable of in competition, we can’t wait to see what she brings to the new playground and unique creative challenge presented by Swatch Nines.

While Swatch Nines is all about creativity and self-expression, Mia is also expressing herself through her choice of watch. She wears DRAGON IN GOLD, LOVE O’CLOCK and WHAT IF…GREEN?.

Swatch is beyond stoked to have Mia onboard as our newest Swatch Proteam athlete and to seeing what she does next. The future is bright.
